14th Annual Panel Discussion on Contemporary African Diaspora Art

The 14th edition will be held at the Art Deco Museum on Miami Beach on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. This year's panel will include Dr. Cheryl Finley, Spellman University, Nigerian Artist, Ibe Ananaba, Josette Bailey, African American Art Advisor and Collector, awarding winning Journalist, Julie Walker, Dr. Chenzira Davis Kahina, The University of the Virgin Islands and Valerie Cooper, Commu- nity Outreach Consultant for The Smithsonian Museum of American Art.

The panel will address issues concerning the Global Black Art Market, the African Diaspora Renaissance movement, HBCUS art collections and Black Fashion as art.

Curator Ludlow Bailey will include his annual art exhibition. This year's exhibition is entitled Black Euphoria and will include Ethiopian photogra- pher, Indrias Kassaye, Jamaican-Haitian Artist, Marcus Delmont, Nigerian artists, Ibe Ananaba, Sidney Blu and Doba Afolabi, USVI artists, Rodrigo Richardson and Savannah Woodson and African American artist, Khaulah Naima Nuruddin.

This year, under the leadership of Valerie Cooper, the Community Outreach Consultant for the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, CADA will also stage a second panel discussion on the Black art collections at three leading HBCU institutions: The University of Virgin Islands, Florida Memorial University and Spellman College.

The panel will focus on the digitalization of HBCUS art collections and will include Valerie Cooper, Dr. Chenzira Davis Kahina Dr. Cheryl Finley (Spellman College), (UVI), Sebastian Grant (The New School) and Cheryl Wilcher (FMU).

The event will convene on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 11:00am-1:00pm and brunch will be served.
On Sunday, December 10, 2023, the Curator will collaborate with North Carolina Artist and entrepreneur, Jay Johnson Jr to host a closing Art Basel party at Villa Tulum in Miami.
